Concord Jazz
(Est. 1973, includes Jazz Alliance, Neon Tonic, and Playboy Jazz) From solo performances to big bands, Concord's flagship label, Concord Jazz, has been releasing critically acclaimed jazz recordings since 1973. Over its 31-year history, the label has been home to such legends as Art Blakey, Ray Brown, Dave Brubeck, Charlie Byrd, Rosemary Clooney, Stan Getz, Gene Harris and Mel Torme, as well as some of today's most popular recording artists, Karrin Allyson, Gary Burton, Scott Hamilton, Nnenna Freelon, and Diane Schuur, among others. Part of Concord's jazz family, the Jazz Alliance was created in 1991 to distribute licensed jazz recordings. Two years later, the label joined with Marian McPartland (who has now been with Concord for over 25 years), to offer recordings of her Peabody Award-winning National Public Radio program, Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz, a series of releases that continues today. Another Concord jazz label, Playboy Jazz, has released an eclectic and highly acclaimed group of recordings since its inception. The label has also created a series of popular compilations that feature classic tracks from some of the most revered and most enduring names in jazz, including Tony Bennett, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, and Thelonious Monk. Also under the Concord Jazz umbrella, Neon Tonic was created to deliver timeless - in some cases, previously unreleased - live performances from the world's best entertainers, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Lena Horne and Frank Sinatra, among them. The label owns the exclusive worldwide licensing rights to never-before-heard recordings of live performances from the main showroom at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
